Bandstand Beds

Food growing in the heart of Clapham

We are a community garden run by dedicated volunteers, aiming to get their hands dirty, get outside, grow vegetables and have a good time.

We pride ourselves on providing an area for the local community to discover the joys and benefits of growing and cooking their own food, with the added benefit of taking home freshly picked fruit and vegetables.

We growing everything from squash to salad and veg for Sunday roast. And all of this lovely local produce is available to our members and passers-by for a donation, which goes towards keeping our garden growing.

Are you interested in the community, gardening, sustainability, the environment, your health and wellbeing or knowledge sharing? If the answer is yes, then drop in and see us – or take a peak at our activities From Seed to Feast in 2018.

COVID-19 – GARDEN OPENING.

During the current Covid-19 crisis, to make our growing space as safe as possible we are restricting numbers and who can come along to our sessions in the garden to members only.

Gardening sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12.30pm and Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm.

On Saturdays we have a stall at our main gate where, for a donation, non members can pick up freshly harvested veg and pickles and jams made from our produce.

If you would like to become a member of Bandstand Beds you can join here.

Our community garden is self-sustaining and has been built with grant funding, in-kind support from Lambeth Council and generous donations from individuals. If you would like to make a donation to keep our garden growing please click on this link.

    Sowing Seeds of Summer

10am to middayBandstand Beds Garden , Windmill Drive, Clapham Common

Although it has the fewest days, the cold, dark month of February often feels like it will go on forever…

But with a warm, sunny windowsill there’s light at the end of the tunnel – you can start sowing seeds ready for spring.

At the end of last summer, we held a fantastic seed saving workshop with Richard Galpin from London Freedom Seed Bank, and we now have lots of saved tomato seeds.

During this session we will sow some of these seeds in pots to take away and germinate at home – ready to grow on in the polytunnel in spring.

    FREE - everyone welcome!
