Bandstand Beds

Food growing in the heart of Clapham

We are a community garden run by dedicated volunteers, aiming to get their hands dirty, get outside, grow vegetables and have a good time.

We pride ourselves on providing an area for the local community to discover the joys and benefits of growing and cooking their own food, with the added benefit of taking home freshly picked fruit and vegetables.

We growing everything from squash to salad and veg for Sunday roast. And all of this lovely local produce is available to our members and passers-by for a donation, which goes towards keeping our garden growing.

Are you interested in the community, gardening, sustainability, the environment, your health and wellbeing or knowledge sharing? If the answer is yes, then drop in and see us – or take a peak at our activities From Seed to Feast in 2018.

Our community garden is self-sustaining and has been built with grant funding, in-kind support from Lambeth Council and generous donations from individuals visiting our produce stall on Saturday mornings.

If you would like to make a donation to keep our garden growing please click on this link.

We will not be running our gardening sessions during this time.

  • Squash and Bean Swap - kick-start meeting 21st March 2013

logo2Want to take part in the Squash and Bean Swap for the Chelsea Fringe?
We at Bandstand Beds on Clapham Common grew squash and beans last year, and we want to share the joy of germination and learn from other groups in 2013.
Sowing can take place in April - so no rush just now - but please join us for a kick start/information/seed swap evening on:
Thursday March 21st, 7 - 9pm, St. Annes Community Hall (basement room), Venn Street SW4 0BN
The hall is on the corner with Bromell's Road, and 1 minute from Clapham Common tube and bus stops.
Tea, coffee and cake/biscuits. Lovely if you can RSVP for an idea of numbers via facebook or mail to Let us know if you're coming along.
The meeting will consist of a briefing about the types of activities you can do, showing you materials (labels, flyers and maybe more) and a chance to network already, swapping tips. Please bring any squash and bean varieties or other seeds you fancy to share at the seed swap table. We look forward to meeting you.
Are you someone with a bit of growing knowledge? You could become a Swap Ambassador and share your knowledge locally. Get in touch with Fiona to find out more.
Please visit this page (click) for a list of community gardens/parks already running events - these are more established growing groups. This is a great opportunity to visit other growing spaces.
Don't hesitate to be in touch
