Do you like being outside? Vegetables? Getting your hands a bit dirty? Then come visit us at Bandstand Beds on Clapham Common.
Formed by a group of gardening enthusiasts with an interest in sustainability, local food production, and sharing skills we maintain three spaces and have an abundance of food and fun! We pride ourselves on providing an area for the local community to discover the joys and benefits of growing their own food, for nearby residents whose homes don’t have gardens or an outside space, those interested in sharpening their gardening skills, and even those who simply want to spend time outside.
We meet every Saturday. Activities are endless and can range from digging, planting seeds, pruning, weeding, building planters, watering and so on. Not only will you spend time outdoors in the garden and pick fresh vegetables straight from the source, we have a wealth of collective gardening knowledge base and occasionally share a picnic together.
The garden has been built by volunteers helped by Lambeth in preparing the site, and grants from Awards for All, Love Your Roots, Capital Clean Up and Tescos Bags of Money towards the polytunnel, raised beds, and equipment. Our seeds, plants and materials are either donated by volunteers or bought using money from membership and donations. We receive no regular funding. But you can pick up our fresh produce for a donation. Who doesn’t like cheap vegetables and plants?
