Here at Bandstand Beds, we’re often asked if anything happens in our community garden in the cold, winter months when not much is growing. There’s always something to do, and this is the time of year when we’re looking forward and preparing the garden for the next growing season.
To ensure healthy growth and a good harvest from our fruit trees and bushes, an important task in February is pruning some of them – but not all. So, what needs pruning in February and exactly how much do you need to cut back? These and many other questions will be covered in this introduction to pruning workshop with Patrick McCabe.
Patrick has been involved in community gardening on Lambeth estates for the past six years. He has a particular interest in food growing and working in partnership with organisations to create community garden spaces. Patrick facilitated a fantastic seed saving workshop for us in September 2021 and we’re thrilled to have him back for this winter pruning session.
As with last year’s workshop this session is open to everyone (members and non-members) over the age of 16*
