Back in February community gardener Patrick McCabe ran a workshop for us, covering the basics of pruning fruit trees and bushes. In the workshop we discovered that as well as pruning during the dormant winter months, to ensure healthy growth and a good harvest fruit trees also benefit from some summer pruning.
In this follow-up to our February workshop, Patrick will recap on the basics and give a step-by-step guide to summer pruning, focussing on the young trees planted beside our composting bays last year.
Patrick has been involved in community gardening on Lambeth estates for the past six years. He has a particular interest in food growing and working in partnership with organisations to create community garden spaces. As well as the pruning workshop in February, Patrick also facilitated a fantastic seed saving workshop last September – and will be running another for this year.
This workshop is open to everyone over the age of 16*.
