In November, working with Lambeth Council and The Orchard Project we planted 12 fruiting trees (mostly heritage apples) on Clapham Common in an area beside our community garden. Click to see on Instagram.

To ensure a good start in life, these newly planted trees will need regular watering in the dry summer months and general orchard maintenance, including winter pruning.

To provide us with the expert advice and guidance needed to carry out the important task of looking after these tees, we have invited Lewis McNeill from The Orchard Project back lead a winter pruning and maintenance workshop in our community garden to

Lewis will spend the morning giving us a step-by-step guide on how and when to prune fruit trees, along with general maintenance tips to ensure strong growth and achieve the best harvest results. He will then give us some hands-on guidance as to where and how we might need to prune the established trees in our community garden, and the newly planted trees on the Common.
