Seed Saving Workshop
Ever wanted save seeds from yours or friends’ plants or your favourite tomatoes but have no idea how to go about it? Join us for this workshop with Patrick McCabe to learn the basics of saving seed to become a more self-sufficient gardener and save money when by not having to buy commercially produced seeds.
Patrick McCabe has been involved in community gardening on Lambeth housing estates for the past five years. He has a particular interest in in food growing and working in partnership with organisations to create community growing spaces. Patrick is an active supporter of London Freedom Seed Bank
During this workshop you will learn the principals of propagation, how some plants have male and female flowers leading to cross pollinated, while others are self-fertile and will produce seeds that are ‘true’ to the parent plant. You will discover simple ways of saving seeds from plants in our garden, and you will be able take some home to sow at the start of next year’s growing season.
