The Squash and Bean Swap and all that goes on at the Bandstand Beds has contributed a lot to the Lambeth growing scene this year, with squash and bean events at fellow gardens – Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses, Streatham Common Community Gardens, Ruskin Park, Myatt’s Fields, Rosendale allotments, Bird Walk Kennington, TT Crystal Palace, Edible Bus Stop – I think that’s all of them. Yay!
Fiorella and Fiona cooked for the Incredible Edible Lambeth feast – the famous Beanballs and Squash shots, and had a great time chatting and eating with the rest. Jay Rayner gave a talk, followed by lively questions, and IEL – the third meeting – had a swift AGM. Community growers and general foodies chatted and ate at the Garden Museum.
Bandstand Beds gave out saved bean seeds in packets stamped with our amazing logo (thanks again to Camilla) and plant labels to attendees. Click here to see more pix on the IEL website
Want to get involved? Our next meeting – a fundraising and planning special – is on Thurs 5th December 6.30 – 8.30. Contact ccbandstandbeds@gmail.com to let us know you’re coming. Christmassy nibbles.
