Seedling Swap Shop – it’s Chelsea Fringe time
Sunday 19th May sees a flurry of swapping, chatting and networking as Lambeth swap squash and bean seedlings. There are events at no less than FIVE hubs around the borough: Bandstand Beds on Clapham Common, Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses, Growing Rosendale in Herne Hill/East Dulwich, Ruskin Park Community Garden and Streatham Common Community Garden. Sow, grow, feast!
Mandish was able to tell us that ‘kodu’ is Punjabi for pumpkin, and held up her own little ‘pumpkin’ for us to see. The pumpkin and his two brothers took away some seeds in pots to grow on. They promised to bring back some fruits for the communal cook ups we’re planning for October. See…

beans, bows and green manure
Back in November we sowed broad beans and green manure. The Bandstand Beds are pretty exposed but it’s always good to grow crops over winter to protect soil structure.
